A11: Woman Seriously Injured After Tandem Bike Crash

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was knocked off a tandem bike on the A11.

Police have told Heart they were called at 3.45pm yesterday afternoon to reports of a crash at Icklingham near Barton Mills.

A silver Toyota Avensis and a tandem bike had been in a collision.

A woman in her 50s on the bike suffered serious head injuries and a leg injury.  The road was closed while the air ambulance landed and flew her to Addenbrookes Hospital.  She's still in a serious condition in hospital.

A man in his 50s also on the bike suffered minor injuries.

The A11 was closed for three and a half hours while the police investigated what happened and reopened at 7.20pm last night.
