A man from Suffolk who rode a motorcycle at 107mph in a 40mph zone has been banned from driving for 2 months.
26-year-old John Dove from Hawthorn Close in Stowupland, had owned the Suzuki Sportbike for a month when police clocked him at more than 60mph above the speed limit on a dual carriageway in Stowmarket on August 1, Sudbury magistrates heard.
Dove, who admitted speeding, was fined £250 and ordered to pay £50 costs.
"He had only owned it (the motorbike) for approximately one month," Robert Newbould, for Dove, told the court.
"He describes his riding as a flash of youthful exuberance. Since this incident he has sold this motorbike. He describes himself as a petrolhead. It's his hobby."
Magistrates' chairman Colin Reeve told Dove: "My first thought when I heard the speed was, 'Ouch!'.
"This figure - 107 in a 40 - is completely off our scale. We don't even have a guideline for that. (It is) suitable only for a race track not for a public road.''
