A fire involving three fuel tankers at premises in Crockatt Road in Hadleigh Friday evening, is being treated as suspicious by Suffolk police.

Police were contacted by the fire service just before 7pm to reports that the three tankers, containing a total of 35,750 litres of kerosene, gas oil and diesel, were on fire and officers initially attended for traffic control.

The A1071 road was closed near the Lady Lane junction while firefighters tackled the blaze but no homes had to be evacuated.

Fire and crime scene investigators have been at the scene to try to determine the cause of the blaze and the fire is now being treated as suspicious.

Police have started enquiries to trace who started the blaze and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

If you were in the area during the afternoon or early evening yesterday, or if you know anyone who came home smelling of fuel or have any information about who started the fire please call Suffolk Police on 101.
