Ipswich Housing Offices To Close

Housing offices in Ipswich are being axed with concerns redundancies will follow.

The Council made the decision in an Executive meeting last night.

They want Housing Officers to see people in their homes instead. The new posts are designed to be more mobile and will meet tenants in their own homes rather than in one of the three area housing offices, which will be closed. This will help the Council tackle many problems and concerns more quickly and efficiently.

The response to a Council's questionnaire sent to tenants just before Christmas showed that 80% were against the council's proposals to shut the Area Housing Offices.

It's thought the decision will result in some 20 redundancies.
