A man's been charged with having a gun without a licence after a seven hour stand off with police in Ipswich.

44-year-old Steven Frost is charged with possession of a firearm without a licence and illegal possession of ammunition.

Police were called on Saturday lunchtime after reports of a man locked in a house with a gun.

The stand-off ended at 8pm after police negotiators managed to persuade the man to come out of his house.

He was arrested and questioned at Martlesham Police Station.

He's due before Ipswich Magistrates this morning.
