Ipswich: Man's Body Found in Ipswich Park

A man's body has been found in Chantry Park in Ipswich.

Chantry Park in Ipswich will remain cordoned off this evening after a man’s body was found on grassland this morning, Thursday 15 November.

Police received a call from a member of the public at around 6:50am, reporting the discovery. Officers attended the park, which was then closed and areas within were cordoned off.

The park will remain closed throughout the evening and officers will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience and are asking that people do not try and gain entry to the park until further notice.

A 42-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he remains.

Police are currently in the process of informing the man’s family and will not release his name until this is complete. However, the man is believed to be in his thirties and from the Ipswich area.

A Home Office post mortem examination will take place in due course to ascertain the cause of death.
