Ipswich: Two Men In Hospital After Fire

Two men have been taken to hospital with burns after a derelict house fire near to Ipswich station.

Police were called by the Fire Service at 3.10am this morning, Tuesday 3 September with a report of a fire at a derelict house in Gippeswyk Road, Ipswich.

Two men, aged 27 and 41 years, who appear to have been living at the house managed to escape from the property and were found outside. Both had suffered burns and were taken to Ipswich Hospital.

The 27 year old man has since been transferred to Broomfield Burns Unit at Chelmsford with what are described as life threatening/changing injuries.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and an area remains cordoned off to allow a full joint investigation between Police and Fire to establish the cause of the fire.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have any information or saw any suspicious activity in the area to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
