Ipswich: Unexplained Death
Suffolk Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man from Ipswich.
Police were contacted just before 11.30am on Monday 10th September by a member of the public who had spotted the body of a man in the river off Bridge Street in Ipswich.
The body was recovered from the river and the man was identified as Peter Ralph, aged 26 years from Ipswich.
Two post mortem examinations have taken place and the pathologist is now awaiting toxicology reports in order to be able to ascertain the cause of death.
Mr Ralph's death continues to be treated as unexplained and officers are continuing to make enquiries to establish the full circumstances as to how he ended up in the river.
It is understood that he had been near to the river bank (close to the Stoke Bridge skate park) on the afternoon and evening of Sunday 9 September.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw him that day or on the morning of his death, Monday 10th September.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Luckett said: "Peter had problems in his life but he was well known and liked in the local community. We are awaiting toxicology results to try to identify exactly how he died but we also need to establish how he actually ended up in the river.
The circumstances of his death are currently being treated as unexplained.
I would urge anyone who may have seen Peter on the 9th or 10th September or who may have any information which will help with the enquiry to contact us.
We are in liaison with Peter's family who have also asked for anyone with any information to come forward."
If you saw Peter Ralph in the days leading up to his death or have any information which could help police with their enquiries please contact the Norfolk and Suffolk joint Major Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101.
