A 38-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being found unconscious on a footpath in Ipswich last night

A 38-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after being found unconscious on a footpath off Blackhorse Lane in Ipswich last night.

Police were contacted by a member of the public at around 8.10pm after they came across the collapsed woman. Officers immediately attended giving first aid to the woman ahead of the arrival of paramedics.

The 38-year-old is now in Ipswich hospital in a serious condition. Police are investigating what happened and are currently treating the incident as unexplained.

The hospital has told officers there are no signs of injury to the woman.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the woman in the area between 7pm and 8.15pm to call Ipswich CID on 101.

Officers are also keen to hear from anybody who may have any information about how the woman might have come to be on the footpath.
