Leiston: Armed Robbery

2 April 2012, 05:00

Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a Chinese takeaway in Grimsey Road in Leiston around 10.30pm on Saturday night.

A man - described as white, in his late teens to early 20s, around 6ft tall, of very thin build and with a thin face, wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and a light coloured bandana partially over his face - entered the shop brandishing a knife. A member of staff behind the counter saw the knife and ran into the kitchen. The offender then went behind the counter and took money from the till before running from the shop.

It's believed the offender then got on a pedal cycle which had been left leaning against nearby railings and fled towards Seaward Avenue.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area around this time last night to come forward, particularly if you saw someone matching the description of the offender on a bike, and would also like to hear from anyone who may recognise the description of the man involved. If you can help please call Suffolk Coastal CID on 101.
