Man Charged With Manslaughter

A 44-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in the early hours of Sunday.

Police were contacted at around 12:15am on Sunday 17th of April following reports of a fight outside The Smock Public House on Maidenhall Approach in Ipswich.  Officers arrived and found 20-year-old Simon Cowles with a serious head injury. He was conveyed to the Ipswich Hospital by paramedics but was then transferred to Addenbrook’s Hospital where he later died.

Paul Dell from Neath Drive in Ipswich was re-arrested yesterday and was taken into custody at Ipswich Police Station where he has since been charged. The 44-year-old tyre fitter has been remanded in custody before his appearance at Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A 35-year-old man from Ipswich, has had his bail cancelled and will face no further police action in relation to this incident.
