Plans for Sizewell C Power Station
21 November 2012, 14:43
First plans for a new power station on the Suffolk coast are being published.
EDF energy want to build Sizewell C power station next to the previous sites on the coastline and are starting a series of public exhibitions to explain more about the project.
EDF say the plans for Sizewell C will bring major benefits to the area, including thousands of jobs during the construction period, round 900 directly employed permanent jobs at the completed power station, opportunities for local businesses, skills development, and apprenticeships and training opportunities for local people.
The twelve public exhibitions will provide an opportunity for local communities to find out more about EDF Energy’s plans, speak directly to the team and give feedback on the proposals.
“We are committed to carrying out a full and open consultation with local people. I would encourage everyone to play an active role, as their comments and suggestions will be taken into account and will make a difference in shaping our plans,” said Richard Mayson, Director of Planning and External Affairs.
