Police Say Man's Death Not Suspicious

After a man's body was found after a shed fire yesterday, Heart's being told it's not being treated as suspicious.

He was found at an address in Grange Road in Beccles in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers were called by the fire service around 12.30am to reports that they had attended for a fire in a shed there and had seen what they believed was a body inside. The fire had been extinguished and police attended and confirmed the find.

Initial enquiries have revealed that the man is thought to aged in or around his 40's and went by the name of Ray. He has been described as a vagrant who was known to travel the country and appears to have been an annual visitor to the area.

He was given permission to sleep in the shed/ garage overnight and it's thought the likely cause of the blaze was a fire source within the garage - possibly a old barbecue or similar - that he was using.

Police are conducting enquiries to try to formally identify him and are asking anyone with information about him or his next-of-kin to call Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300.
