Police are making a new appeal for information after a robbery at a cafe in Red Lodge in Suffolk early on Saturday 17 November.

At around 2.30am five men wearing balaclavas went into the Red Lodge Cafe on Turnpike Road armed with metal bars.

One of the men threatened a member of staff and demanded cash from the till and safe. The men left with cash, a handbag and charity boxes, driving off in a small white 4x4 towards Newmarket on the A11.

A burnt-out Suzuki Vitara was later found in a field in Chippenham, Cambridgeshire.

Detective Inspector David Giles said, "This was extremely frightening for the customers and staff at the cafe, and we have been carrying out inquiries in Red Lodge over the weekend and providing support to the witnesses.

"Our inquiries have established that the burnt out Suzuki was stolen earlier from Isleham in Cambridgeshire. We believe this vehicle was probably the one used by the offenders to leave the cafe after the robbery.

"I want to hear from anyone who may have seen this car before or after the robbery took place, or anyone else with any information about this incident."

Calls should be made to DC Sarah Shepperson at West Suffolk CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
