Rock singer Pete Doherty will appear in court in Suffolk today accused of letting his manager use his car without insurance.

It is believed Andrew Boyd was driving Doherty's Daimler when he hit a pedestrian in Hadleigh, Suffolk, on September 27 last year.

Chris Corder, 42, (pictured here) was seriously injured in the crash and remains in a coma, his family said.

Doherty, the former boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, will face a charge of permitting the use of a vehicle without insurance, Suffolk Police said. Doherty, 30, from Wiltshire, is due to appear before Lowestoft magistrates today.

Boyd, 42, of north London, will be sentenced today at Ipswich Crown Court after admitting dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, driving without reasonable consideration, driving with no insurance, failing to report an accident and driving without a licence.

Chris Corder's family are expected to make a statement after the hearing.
