Stowmarket: Woman Raped In Alleyway

Police are investigating after a woman reported being raped in an alleyway in Stowmarket on Sunday night.

Police were contacted by the 36 year old woman, late yesterday afternoon and she told them that she had been sexually assaulted in an area off Tavern Street in Stowmarket sometime between 11.10pm and 11.45pm on Sunday.
 
A parking area near to Tavern Street and the junction of Violet Hill Road in Stowmarket was cordoned off last night whilst officers carried out enquiries.
 
Specialist trained officers have been working with the victim and say they now have a clearer picture of what happened.
 
The victim was approached in the alleyway from behind by an unknown man, who grabbed her and raped her before running off towards Violet Hill Road.
 
The man is described as white and he was wearing a dark coloured top or jacket.
 
Officers are carrying out enquiries and will be speaking to people in the vicinity through house to house calls.
