A man arrested in connection with the investigation into a security van theft outside Lloyds Bank, Hamilton Road, Felixstowe in 1993 will face no further police action.

A man arrested in connection with the investigation into a security van theft outside Lloyds Bank, Hamilton Road, Felixstowe in 1993 will face no further police action.

The 62-year-old man from Torremolinos, was arrested at Luton Airport on Sunday 9 June, on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre but has subsequently been released and will face no further police action.

The story is known to many as the 'Fast Eddie' case. Eddie Maher, now 57, stole the security van he was driving 20 years ago. His colleague was delivering cash to the Lloyds Bank on Hamilton Road in Felixstowe.

Maher, originally from Essex, went on the run in the US, living in many houses and making up different identities. He was finally arrested in February 2012 and was given five years in prison earlier this year.
