Suffolk: Man Arrested After 10 Mile Police Chase

A man's been arrested after a police chase through Suffolk last night.

The chase began at around at around 9:50pm in Ipswich when a vehicle failed to stop for officers. Officers followed the vehicle and the police helicopter was launched to support the ground units.
 
After a pursuit which lead to Whatfield the vehicle drove into a field, stopped and the driver fled. Officers including a dog unit pursued him on foot and were able to locate him nearby.
 
The man, who is from the Saxmundham area, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and possession of cannabis.
 
He was taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he remains this morning.
