Suffolk Man Survives Unemployment

A Suffolk man's told Heart unemployment isn't the end of the world.

Nationally the jobless total dropped yesterday, but here it went up. Figures show nearly 14000 people were claiming benefits in Suffolk last month, that's more than the end of last year.

Mark Smith from Martlesham Heath (pictured here) found himself out of a job in June 2009. Instead of panicking he radically re-thought his career and has now started up his own web design and property management company. You can hear Mark's story on Heart this morning. He praises organisations like the Learning and Skills Council's 'nextstep' advice service in helping him start his business, PWD Services.
