Thousands Left Without Phone Lines

25 May 2011, 16:20

Thousands of people haven't been able to make phone calls this afternoon

It's after a switch went faulty in Ipswich at around 1pm.

BT has been telling Heart that this would have affected around 65,000 lines in the area, with most being in Ipswich but that some users in surrounding places such as Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Halstead, Framlingham, Aldeburgh, Aldeburgh and Earls Colne would have also lost service.

They say engineers have been working working urgently and restored the switch back into service at around 3.20pm.

BT says it would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst this urgent repair work was carried out.
