A man has died after being found unconscious in a pond in Wattisham in Suffolk.

Just before 6pm yesterday evening, a man in his 50s was found unconscious in a pond at a property in Clay Hill Lane.

It is believed that he was a builder undertaking work at the premises.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent three vehicles to the scene and Volunteer Dr Andy Mason from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) charity was also called to attend.

The man was found to be in a critical condition and was flown to Ipswich Hospital by an RAF Sea King helicopter from nearby Wattisham Airfield where he died overnight.
