Brighton; Hero Worker Jumps Into Sea

A member of staff jumped off Brighton Pier this weekend to save another man who leaped into the Sea.

The incident happened at around six on Saturday evening in front of a crowd of people.

Witnesses said a man who looked like he was in his 40's climbed over the Pier railings and jumped into the water.

Matthew Seekings who's 22 and from Brighton was working when he heard about what had happened.

He took his shirt and boots off and threw himself off the Pier in order to go and help the man.

Once he was in the water his colleague then threw him a livesaving ring and he swam over to the man.

Mr Seekings then held onto the man and kept him afloat until the lifeboat got to them.

The man is now in hospital.

Sussex Police have hailed Matthew Seekings as a hero and he was back at work on the Pier the next day.
