Gatwick Sneak Thief

Police have released pictures of a suspected 'sneak thief' at Gatwick Airport.

They are hoping someone will recognise the man, shown moments after he had stolen a laptop and currency from a sleeping passsnger awaiting a flight.

The victim, a 20-year old US citizen studying in the UK, was asleep between about 2am and 6am on Monday 22 August, on the seating in "The Avenue" on the landside second level of the North Terminal, in between the left baggage shop and the car rental outlets.

Whilst he was asleep his black shoulder bag was opened and an Apple Macbook Pro laptop, and some foreign and UK currency from a wallet were stolen from it.

Detective Inspector Jon Fanner said; "We would like to hear from anyone who recognise this man. If you can help please call us on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 742 of 21 September.

"This is an unusual type of theft at the Airport, but it serves as a reminder to passengers that they should always ensure their valuables are as secure as they can be."
