Hastings: Tribute To Woman Found Dead

The daughters of Shirley Coalbran, whose body was found on Winchelsea beach on Wednesday, have paid tribute to her.

Dawn Leaney, Glenda Woodcock and Myra Coalbran, who all live in Hastings said: "Mum was a very well known lady in Hastings and especially in Ore where she was born and lived all of her life. She was a great animal lover and was totally devoted to her black and white collie dog (Sophie) she was often seen walking Sophie in Alexandra Park, the seafront and visiting The White Rock hotel with Sophie for coffee with her friends. She was always smiling and chatting to people she met along the way.

"Mum was diagnosed with mild Alzheimer's and shortly after that lost Sophie to old age and became depressed.
The family are of course devastated and we know many people will be feeling so sad with us. We would like to say how fantastic the Hastings and Rother police were in co-ordinating the huge search for Mum, drafting in other units to assist and being so relentless and dedicated throughout.

"We have also been overwhelmed with the wonderful people of Hastings with their support and kind loving messages it has helped us no end. Thank you all."

Police and the coastguard carried out searches after the 76-year-old, who suffered from Alzheimer's, disappeared from her home in Coghurst Road on Monday night.
