Landslip Hits Train Services

Heavy rain has caused a landslip underneath one of the railway tracks between Horsham and Holmwood stations.

As a result, train services from Horsham to London and vice-versa will be disrupted by up to three weeks as repair work is carried out.

The landslip has caused ballast to move from under and around the track which has rendered the affected area unstable and not safe to run trains on. This means we are only able to operate on one of the two lines usually available, and are unable to operate the full timetable on this route from Monday 26 November until remedial work is completed.

Network Rail is working hard to repair the damage, which could take up to three weeks owing to the extent of the damage and the rural location which means a temporary road has to be built to gain access.

Southern's Head of Specification and Train Planning, Dave Walker said: "This unfortunate incident means that services are being thinned while we operate on one track. However, there is a rail replacement bus service running to supplement the loss of services, so we will get everyone to their destination. We apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience this will cause, but we ask them to bear with us while Network Rail carries out repairs."

Until further notice, the following alterations will apply each weekday:
 
The 06.52 Horsham to London Victoria is cancelled. A Rail replacement bus service will operate between Horsham and Dorking. This bus will depart from Horsham at 06.52 calling at Warnham, Ockley, Holmwood and Dorking.
 
The 07.56 Horsham to London Victoria is cancelled. A Rail replacement bus service will operate between Horsham and Dorking. This bus will depart from Horsham at 07.56 calling at Warnham, Ockley, Holmwood and Dorking.

The 17.07 Horsham to Victoria will operate 12 minutes earlier than normal from Warnham, Ockley, Holmwood and Dorking.

The 17.34 Horsham to Victoria is cancelled. A Rail replacement BUS service will operate between Horsham and Dorking. This bus will depart from Horsham at 17.34 calling at Warnham, Ockley, Holmwood and Dorking.
 
The 18.34 Horsham to London Victoria is cancelled between Horsham and Epsom. This train will start from Epsom at 19.12 and operate as normal from there to London Victoria.  A Rail replacement bus service will operate between Horsham and Dorking. This bus will depart from Horsham at 18.34 calling at Warnham, Ockley, Holmwood and Dorking.
 
The 06.17 London Victoria to Horsham is cancelled. A Rail replacement bus service will operate between Dorking and Horsham. This bus will depart from Dorking at 07.16 calling at Holmwood, Ockley, Warnham and Horsham.
 
The 16.47 Victoria to Horsham will run as normal to Epsom where it will terminate and will be cancelled between Epsom and Horsham. A Rail replacement bus service will operate between Dorking and Horsham. This bus will depart from Dorking at 17.46 calling at Holmwood, Ockley, Warnham and Horsham.
 
The 17.50 Victoria to Horsham is amended. After Balham the train is diverted to East Croydon calling at all stations. This train will not call at stations between Balham and Horsham. A Rail replacement BUS service will operate between Dorking and Horsham. This bus will depart from Dorking at 18.49 calling at Holmwood, Ockley, Warnham and Horsham.
 
Warnham, Ockley and Holmwood station platform changes. Please note the northbound line (platform 1) will not be in use at these stations, and all trains will be departing from platform 2 throughout the day.
