The mother of murdered Sussex schoolgirl Sarah Payne - has had a laptop with details about her daughter and charity work stolen in a burglary.

Dr Sara Payne, who works for The Phoenix Post campaign group for victims of paedophiles, posted on Twitter that she was ``lost without'' the computer.

The 47-year-old wrote: ``Burgled, Please, whoever you are, I implore you to return my laptop, it has all of my Phoenix/SarahsLaw/book work on it, I'm lost without it.

``If anyone handles or publishes my laptop content, they will be charged with handling stolen goods.

``Nothing I can do but start again.''

Dr Payne tweeted: ``The police are here, the shed has been burgled, all of our Phoenix equipment stolen! I just want to cry.''

Surrey Police confirmed that officers had attended an address in Walton-on-Thames on February 17 following reports of a burglary.

A spokeswoman said: ``Between the hours of 2am and 6am, an intruder gained entry to the rear garden of the property and broke into an outbuilding where a laptop was stolen.

``Two cars at the address were also broken into but nothing was believed to have been stolen.''

Dr Payne was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Open University in 2012 in recognition of her charity work.

Her eight-year-old daughter, Sarah, was abducted and murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting in West Sussex in July 2000.
