Pensioner appears at Old Bailey

A 67-year-old woman has appeared at the Old Bailey accused of murdering her elderly husband at their Surrey home.

Patricia Wakeford appeared by videolink from prison and was remanded in custody to appear before Guildford Crown Court on 17 September.

She is accused of killing Tony Wakeford, 75, who was stabbed through the heart at their home in Norwood Road, Effingham.

The emergency services were called to the scene early on Saturday.
