Police Appeal Over Hit And Run

Officers investigating a fatal hit and run in Hassocks would like to speak to a Worthing man in connection with the incident.

Police are seeking to speak to Imran Shaukat, 26, in relation to the fatal collision on the A273, London Road, Hassocks, at around 4.40am on Saturday (22 October).
 
Police were called to the A273, London Road, Hassocks, at around 4.40am on Saturday (22 October) following a report of a man lying injured in the road.
 
When officers arrived it was sadly discovered that the 23-year-old local man had died as a result of a collision.
 
A Ford Transit van, which is believed to have been involved in the collision, was recovered in Worthing yesterday (Sunday).
 
Inspector Steve Grace of Sussex Police's Road Policing Unit said: "We believe that Mr Shaukat may hold vital information which will assist officers with their enquiries into this tragic incident.
 
"Mr Shaukat was last known to be living in Brougham Road, Worthing. I would appeal for him to contact police as soon as possible.
 
"I would also ask for anyone who may know Mr Shaukat's whereabouts to contact us, or anyone who may have seen the collision or a Transit van in the area around the time of the incident."
