Remembrance In Sussex And Surrey

Sussex and Surrey will play host to Remembrance ceremonies on both Friday 11th November and Sunday 13th November

East and West Sussex

13th November

Arundel – Arundel War Memorial in the Town Square 10.40 am then a service at Ford Memorial Garden at 12.30pm.

Billingshurst - 10.45 Parade at the War Memorial for a period of remembrance and laying of wreaths followed by a Special Drum Head Service at 12.10 at Billingshurst Community & Conference Centre. Evensong – Songs of Praise for Remembrance Sunday – Trinity United Reformed Church Billingshurst.

Burgess Hill – Parade will start from Cyprus Hall at 10.25 proceeding to the War Memorial where wreaths will be laid and the two minute silence observed. This will be followed by a service of remembrance at St Johns Church.

Burwash – 10.55 Parade at the War Memorial followed by Wreath Laying and then a service at St Bartholomew’s Church

Clayton & Keymer - on 13th November there will be a service at the Lynch Gate of St John the Baptist Church Clayton at 10.45am at which the names of the fallen will be read followed by wreath laying and prayers. The Church Service will commence at 11am. After the service there will be wreath laying at the RBL Branch Headquarters in Woodsland Road. In the afternoon, the parade leaves the Headquarters in Woodsland road at 1400 and marches to URC Church on Keymer Road for a service at 14.30. After the service there will be wreath laying and prayers at the Keymer Memorial and a final parade to Headquarters at Woodsland Road.

Cowfold – Parade will assemble at Sports Field car park at 10.25 and march to St Peters Church for the Remembrance Service.

Crowborough  - 10:30am Act of Remembrance and service at St Michael and All Angels Church- Jarvis Brook.   14.30 Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial Church Road, Chapel Green. Parade to muster at 13.45 at Chapel Green War Memorial.

Ditchling - Act of Remembrance at Ditchling War Memorial at 11:00. Followed by Remembrance Service at St Margaret’s Church. Parade to muster from 10.15 onwards at the Scout Hut, East End Lane Ditchling.

East Dean - Two Minutes silence will be observed at the War Memorial on the Village Green at 11:00 followed by Wreath laying and a Remembrance service in East Dean Church.

East Preston- 10.15am Assemble at the East Preston & Kingston RBL Club. Parade will then march to St Marys Church for the Remembrance Service. At the end of the service the Parade will march to the East Preston War Memorial for a short service and the laying or Wreaths. There will also be a short service and laying of Wreaths at the Kingston War Memorial at 12.30.

Hailsham - Parade and service of Remembrance at the Hailsham War Memorial on Sunday 13th Nov. The parade will commence at approximately 1030 from the car park adjacent to the Age Concern Hall and proceed via Vicarage Road, The Old School and High Street with the service to follow at 1100.

Harting & District - Remembrance parade and Service at St Mary and St Gabriel Parish Church at 10.30am followed by Wreath laying at the Village War Memorial.

Haywards Heath - Small remembrance service at Muster Green 10.45. Followed by two minutes silence and the laying of Wreaths.

Heathfield – Remembrance service at Old Heathfield Church commencing at 10.45am followed by Wreath Laying at the War Memorial. A Wreath will also be laid at the Waldron War Memorial.

Horsham - 10.25, Parade from the Telephone Exchange in Horsham to the Memorial led by the Band.  Memorial Service at 10.45 and then to St Mary's Church in the Causeway straight afterwards for a further Service.

Horsted Keynes & Danehill - Horsted Keynes and Danehill will be holding their service of remembrance on Sunday 14th Nov 2010, meeting at 10:45 at St. Giles Church Horsted Keynes.

Hove – Remembrance service at 4pm at the War Memorial.

Hurstpierpoint - Service to be held at the Holy Trinity Church, Parade will muster at South Avenue at 10.35. Two minutes silence to be held followed by the laying of wreaths.

Lindfield - Remembrance Service at All Saints Church followed by Wreath Laying at the War Memorial. A Remembrance day tea will be arranged in King Edwards Hall at approx 4pm.

Little Common – Parade will be leaving Little Common RBL Club in Meads Avenue at 10.40am to March to St Mark’s Church for the Remembrance Service. After the service the Parade will make its way to the War Memorial at 11.55 where a short service will be held followed by Wreath Laying.

Lowfield Heath - Remembrance Service to be held at St Michaels and All Angels Church Lowfield Heath. Muster outside the Church at 10.45.

Newhaven – 9.45am Service at St Michaels Church followed by a parade to the war Memorial Gardens in South Way where there will be  a Wreath Laying Ceremony and Silence to remember the fallen at 11am.

Peacehaven - The traditional Memorial Service will be held at the Garden of Remembrance, The Church of Ascension, Bramber Avenue, Peacehaven at 11.00am on Sunday 13 November 2010 and we are looking forward to seeing as many residents as possible attending the service celebrating the end of hostilities.

Organisations taking part in the Parade will muster in the West Car Park at the Meridian Centre, Peacehaven at 10.15am prior to moving off under the direction of the Parade Marshall for instructions on arrival at the Garden of Remembrance.

Polegate - 10.30 Remembrance service at St Johns Church Polegate. 16.30 Remembrance Service at United Reformed Church Polegate.

Portslade - 10.20 Muster at the Old Portslade Town Hall for March off at 10.30. March to Easthill Park Memorial for Service followed by Wreath Laying. If Very Wet Weather the service will be held in St Nicholas Church and the Parade will be cancelled.

Rotherfield - Remembrance service to be held in St Deny Church where the names of the Rotherfield fallen will be read from all conflicts, this will be followed by the last post and Two minutes Silence.

Rottingdean - All members of the public are invited to join members of The Royal British Legion on the Village Green to mark this event, and witness the laying of the wreaths by the various organisations.

Rye - The Service will be held in Rye Parish Church at 10.55 am. Sunday 14 November 2010.  This will be followed by a short service around the War Memorial where there will be the observation of a one minute silence and the laying of wreaths and crosses.

Seaford - 10.40 Remembrance service at Seaford War Memorial followed by a march to The Parish Church of St Leonards for the Remembrance Service.

Sedlescombe - Remembrance service in St John the Baptist Church commencing at 10.30.

Shoreham by Sea - 9.30am Assemble at the Community Centre, Pond Road
9.40 am March off via Western Road and Brunswick Road to the Church of St. Mary de Haura. 10.00 am Remembrance Service led by Canon Tony Thompson. 11.00am Wreath Laying Ceremony including Last Post, 2 minute silence and Reveille at War Memorial

Southwick Green - Remembrance service at the War Memorial at the bottom of Southwick Green 10.55. Parade Muster will be in the main car park in Southwick Square.

Steyning & District - Remembrance service at St Andrews & St Cuthmans Church. Attendance at 10.30 for 10.45 Service

Wadhurst & Tidebrook – 10am at Gloucester Place followed by a service at the War Memorial and Church. The parade will meet at Gloucester Place at 10:00 - on to the War Memorial for service then on to church to be seated by 10:45 for 11:00 service

Warnham - Parade from Warnham Village Hall 10.15am to Warnham Village Church for Church Service. Laying of Wreaths will take place after the service at the War Memorial.

West Hoathly - Parade commences at 10.30 outside West Hoathly School. Service to be held at St Margaret’s Church West Hoathly.

Willingdon - Parade will assemble in Upper Kings Drive at 10.15. Service to be held at St Marys Church in Church Street with a starting time of 10.45. The Kingfisher Scout Band will lead the parade followed by a Piper, The Standard Bearers, Veterans and the local children’s organisations. Wreaths will be laid at the Memorial in side the church during the service and at the Garden of Rest in the Churchyard after the service. At 15:00 there will be a service at the Ruthless Memorial on Butts Brow attended by the Mayor of Eastbourne and Local MP Stephen Lloyd.

Worth & District - Remembrance service to be held St St John the Evangelist Church Copthorne commencing at 10.30. Crosses will be laid on the War Graves in the Cemetery and in the Garden of Remembrance.

REMEMBRANCETIDE IN ASHTEAD

‘The Framing Workshop’ – The Street – will have a window display from 29 October to 13 November.
Mr Hugh Winthrop and Miss Liz Viner will have a stall in The Street on Saturday 5 November from 08.30 to 13.30.

REMEMBRANCETIDE IN CAMBERLEY

Sunday 13th November - Remembrance Service St Michaels Church Camberley at 2 pm followed by parade and laying of Poppy Wreaths at memorial by RMA.
 

REMEMBRANCETIDE IN CHEAM & SUTTON

The Sutton Remembrance service on 13 November which will be held at The War Memorial, Manor Park at 1100hrs. It is Sutton's turn to have the civic service attended by the Mayor. The service at the Memorial will be followed by a service at St Nicholas Church. There will be no marching.

The Cheam Remembrance service will be in the afternoon. There will be a short service at the Memorial & laying of Wreaths at 1545hrs, followed by a service in St Dunstans Church at approx. 1600hrs with again no marching.

REMEMBRANCETIDE IN NEWDIGATE

Remembrance Sunday is celebrated in Newdigate with an outdoor service at the Parish War Memorial, attended by local organisations (Scouts, Guides, WI etc.) starting at 11.50am. This is followed by a service at St Peter’s Parish Church.
