Woman dies in Brighton crash

A woman died when her car was in collision with another in Ditchling Road, Brighton, on Wednesday morning (November 2).

Emergency services were called to the scene near Hollingbury Park golf course at 9.09am where the woman's Vauxhall Astra had been in collision with a Ford Mondeo, driven by a 65-year-old man from Lancing. He suffered a fractured wrist, but was able to escape from his car and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The 52-year-old woman, from Brighton, had to be cut from her vehicle by fire-fighters, but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed in both directions to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians while the incident was being dealt with. It reopened shortly after 2pm.
