Police say Facebook rumours of a suspicious vehicle outside schools in Banbury are not true.

Thames Valley Police say there haven't been any incidents or intelligence about a white van near schools.

Inspector Dave Hibbert, Neighbourhood Inspector in Banbury is reassuring the community that they will take any reports of this nature extremely seriously;

"These types of incidents are rare but we will investigate any reports immediately. However, I can confirm there have been no incidents or intelligence where a white van has been driving around schools.

"The local Neighbourhood Teams regularly patrol their areas and will continue to do so. Cherwell is one of the safest places to live in the country and all of the officers who cover the area, neighbourhood teams, Local CID and Patrol officers continually strive to keep it that way.

"I would like to use this opportunity to continue to remind parents and guardians how important it is to remind children of the dangers associated with talking to strangers."
