Bronze Statues Stolen From Reading Park

10 August 2011, 15:00

Three bronze statues, two of pigs and one of a girl, have been stolen from Beale Park in Reading.

They were taken sometime between 1pm and 2pm on Sunday 7th August.

The two pig statues had been at the wildlife park and gardens for many years, while the sculpture of the little girl was a recent addition.

PC Marc Robinson told Heart:

"We can pinpoint when the statue of the little girl was taken as it had been secured to a wooden bench and while most of the bench was wet where it had rained heavily earlier in the day, the spot where the statue had been positioned was dry.

“Also these were extremely heavy statues - it would have taken at least three very strong individuals to move them.

“We would urge anyone who might have seen something suspicious in the area to contact us as soon as possible."
