Burford: Woman's Body Found
An investigation has started after the body of a woman was found in Burford.
Thames Valley Police is telling Heart officers were called at 7.05am on Thursday 3rd October 2013 to a report of a body on the A361 near Burford, Oxfordshire.
Officers say the discovery was made in a layby, near the entrance to Burford Golf Club.
The death is being treated as unexplained and an investigation has started.
The road has been closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for some time to allow for enquiries to take place at the scene.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Kerry O’Leary, of Banbury CID, said: “We are seeking to establish the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and have lines of enquiry which we are pursuing, but at this stage her death is not being treated as suspicious.
“We have yet to notify the woman’s next of kin and are continuing to make enquiries in order to locate them as soon as possible.”
The A361 has now re-opened in both directions.
