Police have released CCTV footage following a robbery at Coral bookmakers in Tilehurst last month.

The robbery happened at around 8.40pm on 28 March.

A man entered the shop, armed with a knife and wearing a mask, and stole more than £1,000.

The footage shows a member of staff and two members of the public trying to stop the offender taking the money.

Det Con John Yallop, from Newbury CID, said:

“The footage is quite dramatic and shows two men acting very bravely in using stools and chairs to try to prevent the offender from getting the money. I hope that by releasing this footage, members of the public who have information about this incident and who have not yet come forward, will speak to police. Someone may also recognise the mask the man is wearing. There is a reward of £5,000 for information leading to a conviction being offered by Coral along with the Association of British Bookmakers Ltd.”

The offender is white, 5ft 9ins, skinny build, in his early twenties. He was wearing an army coloured ski mask, a brown hooded top, light coloured jogging bottoms and trainers.
