E-Fit Issued After Newbury Sex Assault

Heart's been given a picture of a man police want to speak to after a sexual assault in Newbury.

At about 6pm on Wednesday 27th February, a 40-year-old woman was walking her dog on a footpath from Hutton Close into the parkland which runs parallel to the A339 near to the Vodafone site, between Hutton Close and Church Road.

She noticed she was being followed by a man, who she had seen at the underpass at the end of Hutton Close. She had passed the man who had stopped beside the A339 at the top of the stairs leading from the underpass. She continued up the path in the direction of Shaw House Mansion and noticed the same man following her. The man then grabbed her around her mid-section and tried to drag her from the path into the bushes.

The woman's dog caused the man to flee after constantly barking and may have even bitten him. Once free the woman ran to safety, where she called police.

The man police would like to speak to is Asian, in his late twenties to early thirties, slim, and around 5ft 10ins. He was wearing a black woollen beanie-style hat, a black coat, gloves and a black rucksack.
