A man's in a critical condition in hospital after being found with serious head injuries in a street in Reading.

Police were called to the 55 year-old in Prince of Wales Avenue in the early hours of yesterday.

Investigating officer, Det Insp Laura Macinnes based at Reading police station said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to speak to police. We believe a woman who was at the scene could have vital information.

“If you have any information, or saw a woman with the victim prior to the incident please contact police via the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference URN 187 7/5.
