Police have given Heart CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to about an arson in Newbury

At around 3am on 5 January a man attempted unsuccessfully to set fire to some newspapers at a petrol station in Pinchington Lane, Greenham.

The same offender then set fire to stock that was on display within the main entrance of a nearby Tesco store, causing significant damage.

The store was closed at the time with some night staff on duty, so no one was injured during the incident.

Officers are keen to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images.

Sgt Warren Craik, of Newbury Local Area CID, said: “I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident or anyone who saw what happened to contact police.
