Shooting at Milton Services Near Didcot

A man's in hospital after shooting himself at a service station near Didcot.

Thames Valley Police was called to an area close to the BP service station in Milton, near Didcot, at about 3.43pm on Monday 22nd October 2012, to reports of a man spotted with a gun.

It's being treated as a fear for welfare incident.

The man subsequently sustained a head injury, which resulted in him being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Supt Chris Sharp said: “I am aware there has been speculation on social networking sites about this incident.

“I would like to reassure the community that at no time during this incident was a threat posed to the wider public and no one else was injured, however nearby areas were cordoned off while police dealt with the incident.”
