Five synchronised swimmers from the Thames Valley are among nine chosen to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics in the summer.

Reading athletes Katie Clark, 18, and Katie Skelton, 24, sisters Asha and Jenna Randall from Ascot and Vicki Lucas from Yateley were included in the squad this afternoon.

Asha makes her Olympic debut as Great Britain enters a full synchronised swimming team for the first time.

She says she can't wait to perform in front of a home crowd;

"To be able to compete at an Olympic Games is the ultimate goal for any athlete and for it to be in your home country is just a once and a life time opportunity.

"I'm so excited that I have been officially selected as a member of Team GB to compete for my country in synchronised swimming."

The rest of the team was named as Yvette Baker, Katie Dawkins, Olivia Federici and Jennifer Knobbs.

With the marathon, boxing, canoe slalom, sailing and swimming squads all decided, today's announcement means 76 athletes have now officially been selected to compete for Team GB in the summer.
