Thames Valley Olympic Canoeists Revealed

Nine sprint canoeists have been announced by Team GB, and 5 of them are from the Thames Valley.

Eight of the athletes will compete in half-a-dozen Kayak events, while one will race in the Canoe in two events.

The announcement was made at the Thames Valley home of the canoeing and rowing for the Olympics, Eton Dorney Lake, near Windsor.

The majority of Team GB in the Canoeing and Kayaking now live close to the base in the Thames Valley.

27 year-old Johnathan Schofield lives in Maidenhead. Selected for the Men's 200m Sprint Canoe (Kayacking). First appearance is due on Monday 6th August at Eton Dorney for the Heats and Semi-Finals.

26 year-old Angela Hannah was born in Zimbabwe and Maidenhead has been her adopted home since being a younster and now lives in Taplow. Selected for Women's 500m Sprint Canoe (Kayacking). First appearance is due on Monday 6th August at Eton Dorney for the Heats and Semi-Finals.

24 year-old Louisa Sawers lives in Marlow. Selected for the Women's 500m Sprint Canoe (Kayacking). First appearance is due on Monday 6th August at Eton Dorney for the Heats and Semi-Finals.

23 year-old Rachel Cawthorn lives in Maidenhead. Selected for Women's 500m Sprint Canoe (Kayacking).First appearance is due on Monday 30th July at Lee Valley White Water Centre for the heats.
