The Queen's Birthday Celebrations Begin In Windsor

Celebrations begin in Windsor ahead of The Queen’s 90th birthday tomorrow.

Her Royal Highness will be accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh on a visit to the Royal Mail Windsor delivery office to mark the 500th anniversary of the postal service.

Her Majesty and Prince Philip will then officially open the new bandstand in the town’s Alexandra Gardens.

A recent Ipsos MORI poll shows the Royal Family is as popular as ever in Great Britain. In a recent survey 76%  of people wanted to keep the monarchy, with 86% still in favour of having a King or Queen as head of state.

Royal Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Heart he believes The Queen’s reign has secured the monarchy’s future:

Thames Valley Police Superintendent Bhupinder Rai said: "This week, the eyes of the world will turn to Windsor and the 90th birthday celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen.

"Thames Valley Police will, as always, play a proud and vital role in ensuring protection of the Royal party outside of the castle as well as the safety of the many visitors to the area."
