West Berkshire School Bus Set To Be Scrapped

It looks likely that children in a rural Berkshire village will be forced to walk through woodland and along main roads with no footpaths to get to school.

It's as West Berkshire council has confirmed the school bus which serves Mortimer is on the list for planned cuts in a bid to save £10.8 million.

Some parents claim the route to The Willink School is unsafe as it's poorly lit with no sign posting.

One mother told Heart she would have to give up work to drive her children to school instead.

A final decision will be made at the council's budget meeting on 1st March.
