5 Convicted in Massive Drugs Operation

Five men have been convicted of running a massive drugs operation in Devon.

All of them were charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine after a police operation centred around Torquay.

Officer in case Detective Sergeant Ian Tomlinson, said:  “The conviction of these individuals has and will make a significant impact on the availability of Class A drugs within the South West and especially the Torbay area.

“This was a sophisticated and organised criminal enterprise which required an equally sophisticated response by the Police. The Serious Organised Crime Branch are equipped to conduct such investigations.
“These were professional criminals who sought to gain vast profits from drug dealing and made it their business to do all they could to avoid detection. The investigation and trial have given a snap shot of the serious level of violence which lies behind this type of crime.
“The success of this case is solely attributable to the professionalism and determination of the officers who have worked on the enquiry Since June 2008, especially the case team of DC Martin Hammond, Dc Shaun Friend, DC Rob Clement and Intelligence analyst, Rob Myers.
“The public should be reassured that we will continue to make Devon and Cornwall an unattractive proposition for organised Criminals.”
