Contractor Takes Over Torbay Maintenance

We're being promised hundreds of new jobs, and millions of pounds in savings in Torbay, as a contractor takes over maintaining our car parks, parks and rubbish collections.

May Gurney have been selected to run the services in the future after a council meeting last night.

The change should take effect in the summer.

We're told the idea will employ 400 people, increase recycling rates and save tax payer's money.

Cllr Dave Butt said ""This new company will not just improve services for residents in Torbay, but it will also create new jobs, save at least £10 million pounds over the next ten years and will improve  prospects for Torbay's economy."
