Georgia’s Story

Georgia Diamond, 20 months old, was born with a rare condition called gastroschisis, where she was born with her intestines outside her body.  This means that her mum Lisa has to feed her through a line into her heart, which means she has never tasted the food that keeps her alive.  She spent the first 14 months of her life at the children’s hospital, where she was treated and cared for.  By the time she reached 16 months old she had already had 6 operations. Georgia experienced her first Christmas at home in 2013, after spending most of her young life at Noah’s Ark.  Mum, Lisa said “The hospital was our first real home as a family”. The treatment Georgia received was second to none, the nurses also spent time training me how to put the line in and how to use the pump.  I loved it because it was the first thing I could do for her myself. We now have all the equipment to look after Georgia at home. We are hopeful that one day she will be better and able to live a normal life.”
