Celebs Back Campaign For Marrow Donors

TV presenter Gethin Jones is the latest to join a campaign to help a little girl from Cardiff.

It’s part one family’s quest to find a bone marrow donor for 8-year-old Hollie Clark who was diagnosed with a bone marrow failure syndrome about two months ago.

We’ve all heard of the no make-up selfie and photos of men with their bits in a sock, but now we’re being asked to snap ourselves with our pants on our head.

So far a host of Welsh celebs and sporting stars have been taking to Twitter to post their pictures including the likes of Sam Warburton, Jonathan Davies and Geraint Thomas.

Hollie’s dad Stephen told Heart how it all started:

“Whilst Hollie was in hospital, she was quite unwell. So to keep her spirits up we’d FaceTime a lot.

“To cheer her up, her Uncle Mac put his pants on his head which she thought was hilarious.

“Once we’d got over the initial shock of what we had to do, we decided to raise awareness on social media by putting our pants on our head”.

The aim is to encourage others to register with the Anthony Nolan Trust and become a donor.

Around 500,000 people are currently signed up with the charity and Stephen said since their social media campaign started, more people from Wales have registered.

If you want to help, you can join the register on www.anthonynolan.org and check out HelpHollie on Twitter or Facebook and search #pantsonyourhead.
