A woman from Swansea has been jailed for 8 and a half years for stabbing a grandfather to death.

51 year old Richard Craddock was attacked in his car after offering Katie Jenkins a lift home from a party.

The 24 year old admitted his manslaughter during her trial at Swansea Crown Court last week.

The court heard she'd had her drink spiked at a party last May and Richard Craddock offered her a lift home.

Jenkins said she'd hidden a knife in her bra because she was worried he was going to sexually assault her.

While he was driving - she stabbed him in the neck

Katie Jenkins admitted attacking him - claiming she acted in self defence

She sobbed in the dock as Judge Keith Thomas passed sentence at Swansea Crown Court.

She was told while her drink had been spiked there was no evidence it had an "overwhelming" effect on her.

He said: "You anticipated that night that something bad may happen...you had a number of opportunities to leave his presence but you chose to remain in it"

"I'm satisfied you had concern in your mind - but it didn't justify stabbing him".

Richard Craddock's family say he was a gentle giant who would go out of his way to help people.

The judge added his death has had a devastating effect on those close to him.
