Cardiff University students have built their own car to race on one of the world's most famous tracks.

They're taking part in Formula Student which will see them race their car at Silverstone next month.

They'll be up against teams from around the world.

Ryan Marks is from Cardiff Racing. He said: "It's insanely quick to drive.  You're only about two inches off the ground, the same sort of height as a go-cart.

"It's a real buzz to drive."

The team has used 3D printing technology to make lightweight components for the car.

Ryan said:  "We started using 3d printers about 4 or 5 years ago. On this car alone we had the air in-take 3d printed, the steering wheel, the dashboard and even the nose cone."

Cardiff Racing will take part in Formula Student at Silverstone on July 10th.
