Get To Know David Brookes
David Brookes loves the Bee Gees, but ask him for a dance at your own peril!
Who was your first celebrity crush?
Patsy Kensit without a shadow of a doubt but for some bizarre reason before her it was Felicity Kendal. I think I may have rather expensive taste!
Who’s your most recent celebrity crush?
Jennifer Aniston, still got it and she always will. I hope the future Mrs Brookes isn't reading this!
What song gets you on the dance floor?
'You Should Be Dancing' by the Bee Gees, but I hasten to add it may get me on the dance floor, what I do when I'm on it is open to question!
What song reminds you of the most treasured moments in your life?
Tom Jones – 'The Green Green Grass of Home', always reminds me of my family roots .
What makes you feel good more than anything else?
A workout in the gym for making me feel I can take on the world and a pat on the back from my boss!
What’s your most proud radio moment in your career?
Being part of the launch team to a brand new radio station, seeing it grow and develop while playing a small part in its success, and we are doing it again!
And the most embarrassing?
Tripping over the foot of a client while holding a mug of coffee. White shirt, coffee all down the front, then into the studio. At least he saw the funny side!
Has anybody told you you look like a celebrity? Who?
A mate of mine once said I reminded him of Jeremy Bates, the former British tennis player!
Nothing beats a roast lamb dinner. Don’t bother pouring mint sauce over the lamb, baste the roasting tray itself with the sauce & turn the lamb so it absorbs it.
I love the Bond movies but it has to be 'The Shawshank Redemption' - Morgan Freeman's finest hour for me!
Any beer garden on a warm summer's evening!
What is your most treasure possession?
Old photos of me with my parents when I was younger. They're no longer around but looking at the photos keeps the memories alive.
Who would play you in a film of your life?
Hopefully George Clooney - same hair!
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
80s music, red wine, cheesecake.
Tell us about your ideal weekend.
If I'm not working it would have to be a Saturday morning lie-in with a lateish breakfast, a quick trip to the gym, then me and (my partner) Helen would head out to meet up with friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat. There'd be another lie-in on Sunday followed by a roast lamb dinner, a couple of glasses of red and a bit of sport on the box.
