More help for people with Autism

Autism suffers in Wales have been handed a £2 million funding boost.

Gwenda Thomas, the Deputy Minister for Social Services announced the funding package that will help adults and children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The funding will be used to strengthen Wales as a world leader in ASD work and build on the work done by the ASD Strategic Action Plan.

The Action Plan was implemented to raise awareness and improve the lives of ASD sufferers.

A number of new projects will be brought in as well as developing existing ones. Pre and post diagnostic services for children with ASD will be developed. An adult counselling service will be set up.

Support networks for families will be implemented. Regional monitoring and support for adults with Aspergers Syndrome will be developed and a new learning network created.
